A straightforward process

Know what happens next.

Good engineering should reduce uncertainty. Solidbase keeps the scope, timing, assumptions and deliverables clear from the start.

Discuss your project
  1. 01

    Define the scope

Send plans, photographs and a short description. You receive a written fee proposal before work begins.

  2. 02

    Inspect and analyse

The site, structure and load paths are assessed, with calculations or further investigation completed as required.

Roof-truss impact damage

A targeted inspection of damaged timber roof framing and the surrounding load path.

Report outcome

Localised top-chord failure was traced to impact loading. Failed trusses were identified for replacement, with a hold-point inspection of supporting wall framing before reinstatement.

Retaining-wall design

A site-specific steel-post and concrete-sleeper retaining system with approval documentation.

Report outcome

The design checked earth pressure, surcharge, member capacity, pier embedment, sliding, overturning, bearing and drainage, with a Regulation 61 adequacy statement.

Masonry-wall stability

Assessment of an existing unreinforced masonry enclosure, cracking and lateral restraint.

Report outcome

The review considered wall construction, wind actions, brace capacity, footing uncertainty, reactive soil and nearby vegetation, then set out monitoring and strengthening priorities.

Wall-opening assessment

Early structural planning for large openings between living, dining and kitchen areas.

Engineering scope

The marked-up layout establishes the proposed openings. Final design follows the load path through beams, posts, connections and supports before walls are removed.

Building-defect investigation

A detailed review of an addition where structural and weatherproofing concerns overlapped.

Report outcome

Defects were found to be systemic rather than cosmetic, affecting support, load paths, connections, bracing, the external envelope and drainage. Immediate risks and staged remediation were prioritised.

Cracking & moisture movement

Inspection of diagonal cracking, differential movement and moisture-related site influences.

Report outcome

The movement pattern was consistent with cyclic footing movement on reactive soil. Stormwater, surface drainage and moisture controls were prioritised before cosmetic crack repair.
